Aiesec FAQ

Additional FAQ regarding the AIESEC Global Internship Program

What is the AISEC Global Internship Program?

AIESEC Global Internships are the most intense learning experience that we offer; it also serves to link our global network. Every year, we provide more than 10,000 students and recent graduates with challenging opportunities to live and work in foreign countries in areas of management, information technology, education, and development.

An AIESEC internship is a practical working and learning experience for the intern. It will help them develop academic knowledge, personal and professional skills.

An internship aims to provide the intern with: 1) A positive learning experience. 2) Practical skills and knowledge in a foreign environment to complement the intern’s higher educational background or field of career aspirations. 3) Interaction with a different social and cultural environment with a view to gaining intercultural competencies. 4) Development of theoretical and practical leadership skills. 5) Opportunity to apply personal and professional skills, knowledge, attitudes and values to work for the organization as well as the host communities. 6) Develop awareness and knowledge of social issues and different practices of the sending and hosting country. 7) Opportunity to contribute to personal and professional life goals.

The internship never aims to: 1) Solely provide an opportunity for the intern to earn money. 2) Provide a holiday. 3) Act as a permanent career placement or recruitment opportunity in the host country. 4) If the organization decides to extend the internship on a permanent basis, AIESEC will have no role in facilitating this.

Why go on an International Exchange Experience?

The idea of taking international internship experiences abroad is based on the notion that an individual will never truly be able to explore himself/herself unless they are placed in a situation that is completely foreign to them and forced to adapt to their new environment. It is only through adapting and experiencing new things and having no one but ourselves to help us get through such experiences will we be able to really know our strengths and weaknesses as people.

Going on Exchange does exactly that. It aims to provide an encounter that will have its participants discover themselves in this vast world and find their place in it as individuals with a specific identity. Furthermore, working on international projects would also serve as a way for the participants to apply their learning in socially relevant projects.

Who can apply?

-Students or new graduates (not more than 2 years).

-Have good command of English.

-Good communication skills.

-Have financial capability to go abroad.

-Available to take internship abroad in the next 6 months.
