AIESEC enjoys a rich and long history. Its name alone gives a clue to its at home microdermabrasion origins. Originally, AIESEC began as Association Internationale des Étudiants en Sciences Économiques et Commerciales in 1930. The idea for it started when representatives from schools across Europe exchanged information about various metal detector programs and schools that specialized in business and economics. Students were carrying out internships in other countries, but mostly on their own initiative, and it all came to a standstill with the onslaught of World War II. Through wartime, exchanges still happened between neutral Scandinavian hard money lenders countries; in Stockholm, Bertil Hedberg (an official at the Stockholm School of Economics) and a couple of students Jarov Zich of Czechoslovakia and Stanislas Callens of Belgium founded AIESE, the precursor of AIESEC. In 1948 the AIESEC was officially founded, and in the following year, it held its first gas tankless water heaters convention, the Stockholm Congress, the first of many exchange programs. In the late 1950s, we see the move of AIESEC across the Atlantic, reaching out to the United States and building ties with American students through Yale University and Columbia Business School. Today, AIESEC is a well-established international platform for the youth to discover and hone their leadership potential. To maintain its relevance in face of changing international relations, the organization continues to expand in new countries. AIESEC HUST in Mainland China is a great example of this initiative. Now coming up on its tenth year, the organization has seen tremendous growth and great quality of membership.
